Privacy Policy

How Guzman Applied Technologies handles personal information collected via guzmanapplied.com. Plain English. Honest about what we collect, where it goes, and what rights you have under California law.

§00

Overview

Effective date: 2026-05-22
Last updated: 2026-05-22

Guzman Applied Technologies ("GAT," "we," "us") operates guzmanapplied.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, "CCPA/CPRA") and the California Online Privacy Protection Act ("CalOPPA").

Guzman Applied Technologies is a sole proprietorship operated by Edwin Guzman, based in California, USA. We are a business-to-business consulting practice. We do not run a consumer product, do not sell anything on the site, and do not run advertising on the site.

§01

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to personal information collected through guzmanapplied.com. It does not cover information collected during a paid engagement, which is governed by the engagement letter and any separate data-protection terms signed with the client.

§02

What we collect

We collect the following categories of personal information through the site:

  • Identifiers and contact information. Name, email address, company name, business website, and any information you choose to include in the message field of a contact form.
  • Commercial inquiry information. What services you are interested in, budget qualification (yes or no), and a free-text description of your project or question.
  • Technical information collected automatically. Standard server log data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. This is collected by our hosting provider, Vercel, for security and operational purposes.
  • Aggregated analytics. Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights are active on this site and collect aggregated, cookieless traffic data using a hashed-IP fingerprint that resets daily. If Google Analytics 4 is also enabled, GA4 sets first-party cookies in the _ga family and processes truncated IP addresses. See the Cookie Notice for the current state and how to control these technologies.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by CPRA (such as government IDs, financial account credentials, precise geolocation, biometric data, health data, or content of private communications) through this site. Please do not send any of that information through the contact form.

§03

Where it comes from

Personal information comes from you directly when you fill out a contact form, send an email to a published address, book a call through our scheduling link, or otherwise reach out. Technical log data is collected automatically by the hosting infrastructure when your browser requests a page.

§04

Why we use it

We use personal information collected through the site to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and schedule a follow-up conversation.
  • Evaluate whether there is a fit for a consulting engagement.
  • Send transactional follow-ups related to your inquiry (a written scope, a calendar invite, a reply email).
  • Maintain records of business inquiries and pipeline activity for our own internal operations.
  • Protect the site from abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • Meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not use information collected through the site for behavioral advertising, profiling for legally significant decisions, or training third-party AI models.

§05

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with a small set of service providers who help us run the business. Each acts as a service provider or processor on our behalf:

  • Notion Labs, Inc. Primary intake records (full contact-form submissions) are written to a Notion database we control.
  • Google LLC (Google Sheets, Google Workspace, Google Calendar). Lighter-form submissions and scheduling are routed through Google Workspace. Email correspondence is stored in Google Workspace.
  • Vercel Inc. Site hosting, serverless functions, and server logs.
  • Google Fonts. The site loads typefaces from fonts.googleapis.com. Google may receive your IP address when your browser requests these font files.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the preceding 12 months and we do not have a plan to.

We may disclose information if we are legally required to (subpoena, court order, regulatory request), or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the rights of others, or the security of the site.

§06

How long we keep it

We keep contact-form submissions and related correspondence only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, plus a reasonable period for legal, tax, and business-records purposes:

  • Active inquiries: kept while the conversation is active and for the duration of any resulting engagement.
  • Inactive or unqualified inquiries: archived and reviewed for deletion at least annually.
  • Records tied to a paid engagement: retained per the terms of the engagement letter and applicable tax and accounting law.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time. See section 8.

§07

How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information, including access controls on Notion and Google Workspace, encrypted transport (HTTPS) for the site, and limiting access to authorized people. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We do not claim any formal certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.) and we do not represent that our security measures are sufficient for highly sensitive data.

§08

Your CCPA/CPRA rights

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA:

  • Right to know (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.100, §1798.110, §1798.115). Request a copy of the personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes of collection, and the categories of third parties we have disclosed it to.
  • Right to delete (§1798.105). Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to correct (§1798.106). Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing (§1798.120). We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We do not display a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link because the right is not triggered by our practices.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information (§1798.121). We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the site, so this right is not triggered.
  • Right to non-discrimination (§1798.125). We will not deny service, charge a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a right under the CCPA.

To exercise any of these rights, email edwin@guzmanapplied.com with the subject line "CCPA request." Include enough information to identify you in our records (the email address you used, the company name on the inquiry, and the approximate date). We will respond within 45 days as required by §1798.130, or tell you in writing if we need a 45-day extension. Authorized agents may submit requests on your behalf with written authorization.

We will verify your identity using the email address and information already in our records. If we cannot verify a request, we will tell you why.

§09

Visitors outside California

If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with comprehensive privacy law, you may have similar rights (access, correction, deletion, objection, portability) under that jurisdiction's law. Contact us at edwin@guzmanapplied.com and we will work with you in good faith.

§10

Cookies and tracking

guzmanapplied.com does not set first-party tracking cookies through its own code. The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which exposes your IP address to Google when fonts are fetched. The site is hosted on Vercel, which collects standard server logs and runs Vercel Web Analytics + Speed Insights (cookieless, hashed-IP, resets daily). If Google Analytics 4 is also enabled, Google sets first-party _ga cookies for traffic measurement.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking technologies.

Do Not Track signals. Most modern browsers offer a Do Not Track ("DNT") setting. There is no industry consensus on how to interpret DNT signals, so we do not currently change site behavior in response to them. Because we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising, the practical impact is minimal.

For more detail, see our Cookie Notice.

§11

Children

This site is directed at business operators and professional services buyers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has submitted information through the site, email edwin@guzmanapplied.com and we will delete it.

§12

Third-party links

The site contains links to third-party sites (LinkedIn, Google Calendar, Baxie, partner sites). Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. Review their policies before submitting information to them.

§13

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" and "Last updated" labels above reflect the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page. If a change affects how we use information we already collected from you, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you by email.
